How to make a Christmas arrangement from an old lantern

How to make a Christmas arrangement from an old lantern
Do not hurry to throw away old, broken things. Give them a second life. They can turn out to be very original things. In my case, it’s a broken lantern. Let’s see what we can make out of it.

   Materials:
– broken flashlight
– gypsum
– box of plastic (for the mold)
– acrylic paints (black, gold, brown, gray. white, beige)
– brushes and paint sponge

– matchboxes (mold for making plaster houses)
– artificial snow
– small PVC Christmas trees
– battery-operated garland
– double-sided tape
– PVA glue

– ceramic snowman figurine

Step1
Remove the remaining glass from the lantern. Clean it. And treat it with degreaser.

Step 2
Mix a solution of gypsum and water and pour into the mold. Immediately insert the lantern into the solution and let it harden. After hardening remove the product from the mold and leave it to dry for 24 hours.

Step 3
Paint the lantern and plaster stand black. Leave to dry. Then, with gold paint, lightly paint all protrusions and edges.

Step4
Making plaster houses. We pour the plaster into matchboxes. Leave to harden for 20min. Remove from the mold, cut off the corners with a knife, form the roofs. Leave to dry. Draw windows, doors.

A bit of clarification . As you can see in the photo I failed to remove the cartridge from the lantern, and I decided to use it.

Step 5
We mix gypsum mortar and pour the cartridge. Before the mortar hardens, attach the houses and Christmas trees. We leave it to harden.
Gypsum mortar hardens quickly, so make a small portion for each step.
Step6
Mix the gypsum mortar thicker. Form a slide out of the cartridge by coating it with the mortar. Also attach Christmas trees, a house and a snowman. We leave it to dry.
Step7
We put the garland around the Christmas trees and houses, bring it to the top under the roof of the lantern and also fix it. Attach the switch under the roof with double-sided tape.

Step8
We grease the roofs of the houses and the plaster slide with PVA glue and fill it with artificial snow. Leave it to dry.
